The Fairy Tail anime series is the story of a young girl named Lucy Heartfilia who wants to be a full-fledged wizard. She encounters an old mystic from another guild who offers to teach her how to use magic, but she needs something in return: the knowledge of how one becomes a member of her guild. In order for us not to spoil it for you, we’ll just say that this mystery is not so easy to solve and only gets worse as time goes on. Lucy is a former member of her late father's country's military, so she’s accustomed to obeying orders and staying strong through difficult times. Her father dies during an inter-faculty tournament he’s participating in at the time, leaving Lucy without a home. She ends up being taken in by Natsu, the leader of her guild Fairy Tail, which is comprised of disreputable wizards who are led by fashion king Makarov. Although Lucy starts out as a nervous new recruit, she quickly becomes one of Natsu’s most loyal members. The show chronicles her adventures with him and all of his friends as they go off on missions that may or may not end in death. The anime became popular as it aired on the satellite television channel TV Tokyo and later on TV Aichi after it received a license from NTV. The first set of episodes ended up being watched more than 1.75 million times. The anime series has been licensed by FUNimation Entertainment and has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray. For its first home video release, Shueisha decided to make three volumes of the series: two volume sets and a special edition set of these two sets, each holding episodes 1-50. The sets were released in Japan on June 6, 2007 and December 6, 2007. FUNimation announced the anime series would be dubbed in English by Central Park Media, with 26 episodes dubbed to A/V format on May 27, 2008. The following is based on the "Blue Water" manga. Two episodes aired per week on TV Tokyo and were broadcast every Sunday and Thursday until the end of August. The series continued for twelve weeks in this format. From September to December 2005, the show was broadcast in television networks across Japan with three episodes per week on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka. The time slot was Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00pm to 9:25pm. The series has been licensed by FUNimation Entertainment and is released in the United States in DVD format.
