The game can be controlled with a keyboard or other game controller. I elected to use a gamepad over a joystick. SAER allows players to fully configure their controller for a custom fit. Along the way, players can also adjust their bike's settings for power, braking and steering. These settings are very, very basic, with any modification to one affecting the other. If you want more power, you'll have to sacrifice braking or steering. This makes bike setup very easy for the arcade-racing crowd targeted by this game. More importantly, these modifications are required for success. The high-desert tracks need power, pure and simple, while the alpine and city courses require more balance.

1nsane paved the way for high destruction games alike Flatout, but what it managed best was to suggest the degree of mayhem and destruction possible during an unorthodox off road race. It managed it because it offered you free reign in regard to how you could tackle each circuit, of course, with gates that you had to reach, but otherwise, you were free to choose your own trajectory. The game featured a great engine in terms of the damage vehicles could inflict on the scenery and on themselves, and that affected the capability of each vehicle as well as the track. So, if you want a cusp of modernity racer with loads of tracks to choose from, with nice graphics and the ability to smash your vehicle visibly, to smithereens, this sure is the game to do it. Great both for prolonged sessions as well as a one race off, from time to time, you will get addicted to this one even harder than current generation racing games. I recommend it wholeheartedly, for its maniacal races as well as the feeling of speed and destruction that it can create.
I've got two words for you: Extreme Simulation! Superbike 2000 is the most realistic motorcycle racing game I have ever seen. You can spend hours just tinkering with your bike setup -- everything from gears to shocks can be adjusted. This isn't the type of game where after a few times of playing you beat everyone. You will find it takes quite a bit of actual riding time to get very good at all. Which brings me to the one down side that really bugged me. Last year's version of Superbike had an option that allowed you to turn on hoops, which were then put in place around the track so you could learn the line of the track. Unfortunately, they did not include this option in Superbike 2000, but there are tons of other options that will help out the first time rider so he or she doesn't get turned into ground hamburger too fast. I found the overall gaming experience to be serious but fun at the same time. Superbike 2000 might not go over very well with the arcade style of racing gamers but they should at least give it a try just for the awesome graphics alone.
At first glance I was a bit disappointed with Superbike 2000. I was expecting eye-popping change to be evident and was let down when that wasn't the case. But then after a week of steady playing I really began to notice the subtle changes made to the graphics, audio, and the options section regarding track setup. The more I played the more I liked it and can now stand before you and say that EA Sports did a great job with Superbike 2000. I won't lie to you though and tell you that this is an easy game to learn because it is not. You will find yourself spending a lot more time learning to ride and take corners in Superbike 2000 than any other motorcycle racing sim out there. But you will also find it is darned gratifying once you have mastered the handling of the bike and you turn in the perfect lap. On that note I will give Superbike 2000 a score of 90/100. The score would have been higher if the training hoops had been left in the game and if there were a few more tracks.
